"Juliet Lawson's art work – which consists of paintings and drawings in varied media – expresses a poetic and gentle vision of the world imbued with energy and a joy in Life. Her subject matter is wide and classic – still lifes, landscapes, groups of people, the human form, even some horses. She is not so much interested in specific analysis but more uses objects, views, and the human subject as a starting point and inspiration for her own impressionistic interpretation. Her palette is muted, even rather dreamy, with nevertheless a wide range of colour. Her line has a rhythm and spontaneity to it, and can be surprisingly vigorous in her life drawing in particular. The inspiration and pleasure she patently derives from her visual world are consistently communicated to the viewer in her art as a whole – a joyful and exuberant reflection of human experience."
